My takeaways from Data Wise were many ... the journey this year ... The focus of our efforts this school year ... and our barriers. Identifying our school wide problem based on Data - We realize that we have an emphasis on district directed assessments. Teachers comply with the request of giving these assessments as well as students complying with taking the assessments. Teachers inquire as to whether these are the correct assessments and also they wonder if students take these assessments seriously. This creates the following problems. Teachers do not understand how to use these assessments to drive their instruction so they are simply a compliance piece. There is a disconnect between what is being taught and what is being tested.
